Why am I in Thailand

Why am I in Thailand

The reason why I’m here – and especially that the here is an island in the middle of the rainy season – is, that I decided to do a yoga teacher training program. After some research I selected a school in Koh Phangan. If it is the best for me, I will know in about a month.

In the coming weeks I won’t have travel adventures, so there won’t be much travel related to write about. But for sure you will her about me and my yoga experience. I will have long days here: we’ll start at 7 am and will finish a bit after 7 pm, on six days of the week. There are breaks between the classes that we could spend on the beach, though so far it was constantly raining, so we preferred to find a dry spot somewhere. This is actually not that easy, as all the yoga halls are open, either all sides, or at least 2-3 sides of them, and the freshly renovated palm roofs can’t pass the test.

Tomorrow morning, as every morning we start with meditation. This is a basic meditation, that may seem super easy for the first sight. Here we focus on our breathing, and when we start to think about something and we catch ourselves having these thoughts, we just simply turn back to observe our breath, staying in the present moment this way. My tiny little problem with this is, that so far I used this technique to calm my mind and fall asleep. So I have hard time kneeling on the map as I was worried that I will fall asleep and hit the floor, no matter how hard I want to stay focused. Fortunately this didn’t happen so far. A small victory.
